The KR Workshop Series

Organisational Design for Today and Tomorrow

KR WORKSHOP SERIES | CAPE TOWN

Building organisations that are adaptable, accountable and ready for what comes next.

Organisations are under increasing pressure to become more adaptable, efficient and responsive while navigating AI, changing business models and increasing organisational complexity.

Traditional organisation design often focuses on structures, roles and cost reduction. However, creating a truly fit-for-purpose organisation requires a deeper understanding of the work, capability, accountability and judgement needed to deliver the strategy.

This practical two-day workshop explores how leaders can redesign work and organisational structures while protecting the human capabilities that organisations will continue to need.

Key Focus Areas

Participants will explore:

  • Designing organisations around the complexity of the work, rather than simply headcount or existing structures
  • Understanding how AI is changing work, capacity and capability
  • Identifying where human judgement remains critical
  • Diagnosing organisational complexity, structural gaps and unnecessary layers
  • Redesigning work across people, technology and AI
  • Building effective accountability within blended workforces
  • Understanding the impact of organisational design on capability development
  • Navigating South African labour, transformation and regulatory considerations
  • Building organisations that can continue to develop critical human capability
  • Making stronger organisation design decisions based on value, risk and long-term sustainability

Practical Application

Participants will work on real organisational challenges and apply practical tools to:

  • Diagnose their current organisational structure
  • Identify where work and accountability need to change
  • Assess the human impact of AI and automation
  • Redesign a real process or area of work
  • Map accountability across people, technology and external partners
  • Identify critical judgement and capability gaps
  • Develop practical interventions to strengthen organisational capability

What You Will Take Away

By the end of the workshop, participants will have:

  • Practical organisation design and diagnostic tools
  • A clearer understanding of how AI can reshape work and organisational structures
  • A framework for balancing efficiency with long-term capability development
